Launching the new lab site
After several years running a Distill-based website, we have rebuilt the lab site on Quarto. The structure is cleaner, the pages render faster, and — most importantly — it is now straightforward to add a blog.
We intend to use this space for things that don’t belong in a paper but are worth sharing: field notes from Zimbabwe, preprint announcements, methods we learned the hard way, and occasional commentary on the biology. The format will be informal. Posts can be short. The goal is continuity — a record of what the lab is thinking about and working on between publications.
The publications and people pages have been migrated from the old site and are up to date as of today. If you notice anything missing or broken, let us know.
The 2026 Gonarezhou field season took place in February and was a success. Alix Tyers and Allen Mavuru joined Dario for over a week in the Gonarezhou National Park, sampling wild killifish populations at the end of the rainy season when the pools are still full, following up on the eDNA transects Allen has been running from the molecular field lab. As always, we had outstanding field support from Hasani Pardon and Dr. Bob Mandinyenya’s team at the Gonarezhou Conservation Trust. A full field report is coming.
