Bio

Flávio Costa is a microbiologist focused on unraveling the interaction between the gut microbiome and aging in Nothobranchius furzeri. His background spans microbiomes in animals and soil, metal resistance in bacteria, and microbial genomics. At the Valenzano Lab he applies culturomics and metagenomic approaches to understand how microbial communities change across the killifish lifespan and how those changes feed back on host physiology.
